Mozart's Mass in c minor and music by Johannes Brahms finnishes Glogersfestspillene 2025

Faith and Doubt

Under the direction of conductor Grete Pedersen, The Norwegian Soloists' Choir will perform brilliant music by Brahms and Mozart, with Ensemble Allegria, soloists and the Oslo Chamber Academy.

W. A. Mozart was a Catholic and it has been speculated that his monumental Mass in C minor was written in gratitude for the recovery of his wife, Constanze, after illness. At the premiere in 1783, she sang one of the solo parts in a work that combines magnificent choral sections, virtuos solo parts, and dramatic orchestration.

Geistliches Lied and Schicksalslied are two moving choral works by Johannes Brahms. The composer himself was a lifelong skeptic, a worldview that influenced his perspective on love, life, and religion. Nevertheless, his music stands as a monument in churches around the world.

Conductor Grete Pedersen has led the Norwegian Soloists' Choir to new musical and artistic heights. In the summer of 2025, she will pass the baton after 35 years as Artistic Director. This upcoming season is dedicated to a grand celebration of her finale with the choir.
