Meet our new singers: Frøydis Fegran Kopperud

07.12.2021

After auditions in November, The Norwegian Soloists’ Choir has taken in two new altos.

Here you can get to know Frøydis Fegran Kopperud.

Frøydis comes from Trondheim, and is currently based in Oslo since 2019 when she started her bachelor’s degree in singing at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She has studied with Randi Stene and Mona Julsrud.

This young singer’s first meeting with he Nowegian Soloists' Choir was as a deputy for the recording of Francis Poulenc’s Figure Humaine for Festspillene in Bergen in 2020.

It was incredibly nerve-wracking to meet such fine musicians for the first time with such complicated music! But I had fortunately recently sung the piece at the Music Academy with Grete Pedersen as professor. That was also the first time I sang beside Maria Dale Johannessen- who is now my new colleague! I will never forget how happy I was when she sent me a friendly and motivational message after the concert.

Maria was announced as a new permanent alto in The Soloist' Choir earlier today. See the recording of Figure Humaine on the choir's YouTube.

Frøydis is a sought-after ensemble singer. She works regularly with ensembles including Orkester Nord, Oslo Cathedral’s vocal ensemble, Utopia and Reality Internation Chamber Choir, Barokkanerne’s Vocal Ensemble and is a permanent singer in Solistkoret Ung.

I am looking forward especially to getting to better know the other permanent singers in solosits’ choir. Through projects as a deputy I have got to know many of them well and I have learnt lots, for example: how to work as a professional musician. I am looking forward to learning more and getting to know so much varied repertoire.

We welcome Frøydis as a permanent singer in the Norwegian Soloists’ choir!
