The Norwegian Soloists' Choir embarks on their traditional Christmas tour three weeks before Christmas

Solistkorets Christmas Tour

The Norwegian Soloists' Choir embarks on a tour both in the eastern and western part of Norway in the beginning of December.

The choir's Christmas concerts have been a tradition since the release of their Christmas cd «RÓS – Songs of Christmas». This time, the repertoire consists of traditional Christmas music for a cappella choir, mixed with pieces by Arvo Pärt and Michael Praetorius.

Featuring

The Norwegian Soloists' Choir

The Norwegian Soloists' Choir is an innovative young ensemble, steeped in a rich history. As one of Europe's leading chamber choirs, they perform spectacular concerts in Norway and abroad, in concert halls and churches, in caravans and in abandoned factory venues. The Norwegian Soloists' Choir consists of 26 hand-picked, professional singers who have a tremendous ability to blend their voices, resulting in a highly distinctive choral expression. Along with its celebrated artistic leader Grete Pedersen, the choir achieves ambitious artistic goals through constant development.

Conductor Yuval Weinberg

From June 2019 Yuval Weinberg will be engaged as guest conductor for The Norwegian Soloists' choir for two years. Yuval holds a master's degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music where he had Grete Pedersen as professor. His bachelor's degree in choral conducting is from Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where he was taught by professor Jörg-Peter Weigle. He also studied orchestral directing with Yi-An Xu at the Buchmann-Mehta music school at the University of Tel Aviv, where he received scholarships for his outstanding achievements. He has also worked with several chamber choirs in Berlin. Weinberg has received several awards as a conductor, and since 2014 he has been part of the "Conducting Forum" (the German Music Council's conductor forum). As part of this program, he has worked with several professional choirs, such as Berlin's radio choir, the Swedish radio choir, MDR radio choir, NDR radio choir and the German Opera Choir in Berlin. Yuval is regularly invited to conduct several other professional choirs. He has had mentors like Stefan Parkman, Simon Halsey, Peter Dijkstra, Volker Hempfling, Andre De Quadros and Anders Eby.
